High-barrier packaging films global market to grow at 4.7% CAGR to over $11.3 billion in 2021

The growth in high-barrier films will see total world value climb from $9.00 billion in 2016, to reach $11.32 billion in 2021. Volume consumption will be 1.86 million tonnes in 2016. This will grow at a slightly slower rate of 4.6% CAGR across the same period to reach 2.23 million tonnes at its end.

This expansion is mutually supportive with the wider demand for lighter weight packaging – as high-barrier plastics continue to replace laminates in both pouches and rigid formats.
