1、按滾動軸承結構類型分類 (1) 軸承按其所能承受的載荷方向或公稱接觸角的不同，分為：1)向心軸承----主要用于承受徑向載荷的滾動軸承，其公稱接觸角從0到45。按公稱接觸角不同，又分為：徑向接觸軸承----公稱接觸角為0的向心軸承：向心角接觸軸承----公稱接觸角大于0到45的向心軸承。2)推力軸承----主要用于承受軸向載荷的滾動軸承，其公稱接觸角大于45到90。按公稱接觸角不同又分為： 軸向接觸軸承----公稱接觸角為90的推力軸承：推力角接觸軸承----公稱接觸角大于45但小于90的推力軸承。
2、 軸承按其滾動體的種類，分為： 1) 球軸承----滾動體為球： 2) 滾子軸承----滾動體為滾子。滾子軸承按滾子種類，又分為： 圓柱滾子軸承----滾動體是圓柱滾子的軸承，圓柱滾子的長度與直徑之比小于或等于3 ；滾針軸承----滾動體是滾針的軸承，滾針的長度與直徑之比大于3，但直徑小于或等于5mm; 圓錐滾子軸承----滾動體是圓錐滾子的軸承; 調心滾子軸承一一滾動體是球面滾子的軸承。(3) 軸承按其工作時能否調心,分為: 1) 調心軸承----滾道是球面形的,能適應兩滾道軸心線間的角偏差及角運動的軸承; 2) 非調心軸承(剛性軸承)----能阻抗滾道間軸心線角偏移的軸承。
3.按滾動軸承尺寸大小分類 軸承按其外徑尺寸大小，分為: (1) 微型軸承----公稱外徑尺寸范圍為26mm以下的軸承; (2) 小型軸承----公稱外徑尺寸范圍為28-55mm的軸承; (3) 中小型軸承----公稱外徑尺寸范圍為60-115mm的軸承; (4) 中大型軸承----公稱外徑尺寸范圍為120-190mm的軸承 (5) 大型軸承----公稱外徑尺寸范圍為200-430mm的軸承; (6) 特大型軸承----公稱外徑尺寸范圍為440mm以上的軸承。
